Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to fish, collect, breed, track, trade, and enjoy Rainbow Reef fish in Second Life.
How do I teleport to Harmony Fishing?
Open Second Life or Firestorm, then click any “Teleport to Harmony” link on this site. You can also search for Harmony Fishing in-world.
Where can I fish?
The current featured locations are the same ones shown on our Top Fishing Spots page:
Is Xundra’s Fishing free, and do I need bait?
Fishing rods are free and Xundra’s Fishing does not require bait. Pick up a free rod, wear it, and fish anywhere that has an active Xundra’s Fishing area.
How do I get started fishing?
Pick up a free fishing rod from the rod rack. The package includes an optional Fishing HUD, regular and tiny rods, an invisible rod for custom designs, and a discreet no-animation rod. Wear only one rod at a time, then click it to find a fishing server and cast.
How do I cast or use autocast?
Click your worn fishing rod to ping for nearby fishing servers, cast, use autocast, and open its other fishing controls. If no server is found, make sure you are standing at an active fishing location.
Do I need to buy a rod upgrade?
No. There are no official paid rod upgrades. If your rod stops working correctly or gets lost, pick up another free copy from an official rod giver.
What can I catch?
Xundra’s Fishing includes collectible fish and other prizes. Basic Rainbow Reef fish can be caught at any participating fishing area, while special fish may be limited to certain locations or times. The Fish Index shows the known species and variations.
What is the difference between a fish bag and a shoulder pet?
A fish bag contains a breedable Rainbow Reef fish for your aquarium. Rez the bag and click it to receive the fish. A shoulder pet is a wearable collectible and is not the fish you place into a breeding tank.
How do I put a fish into an aquarium?
Rez the aquarium, then rez and click the fish bag. Rez the delivered fish and touch it once to initialize it. Touch the fish again, then touch the aquarium to move it into the tank.
How do I feed my fish?
Load Fishy Flakes into the aquarium. Rez the food container, touch it, and then touch the aquarium to transfer the food. The tank feeds its fish automatically when they become hungry.
Can Rainbow Reef fish get sick or die?
They do not get sick or become unhappy, and they do not die. Fish retire when they reach age 120.
How does breeding work?
Any male and female fish can produce an egg. The baby will often resemble one of its parents. Breeding two fish of the same kind gives you a chance to discover a new variation with a different texture.
How do I collect eggs from my tanks?
Place an Egg Attractor near your aquariums. Eggs laid in nearby tanks will move into the attractor, making them easier to collect and organize.
What are discoveries?
A discovery is a newly produced fish variation. Only the first person to discover a variation receives the official discovery credit, although breeding the variation yourself later is still part of the collecting fun.
What are chum points?
Use a Chopping Board to turn an unwanted fish into chum points: touch the fish, then touch the board. The official guide says a fish is worth 20 points at age 0, plus one additional point for each day of age through age 120.
How do recipe fish work?
Recipe bottles can be caught at the XS-Pets main region. Rez and click one to learn it for your account and receive a notecard naming the two fish to breed. That pairing then has a chance—not a guarantee—to produce the special recipe fish. Recipes are not transferable; learning a duplicate awards chum points.
What are big fish and Mega Tanks?
Big fish include creatures such as sharks, dolphins, and stingrays. They require a Mega Tank, which can also hold ordinary fish. They eat Fishy Flakes and do not eat the smaller fish.
Can a lost fish or item be redelivered?
Rainbow Reef is primarily an in-world game and does not have a general web redelivery system. If a fish is lost, it normally remains lost, although XS-Pets may be able to help in limited circumstances.
What is XS Fishing Tracker?
XS Fishing Tracker by Harmony Fishing helps you browse the Rainbow Reef Fish Index, mark fish as collected, set target fish, hide types you are not collecting, find featured fishing locations, and compare collection progress on the leaderboard.
How do I create a tracker account?
Open the Fish Index, choose Sign Up, enter your Second Life username, and select a four-digit passcode. No email address is required. Keep the passcode safe because an administrator must reset it if you forget it.
How do I track collected and target fish?
Sign in and use the checkbox beside a fish to mark it collected. Use the star to mark a fish you are actively seeking. The filters can show collected, uncollected, or target fish, and your progress is saved to your account.
Can I hide fish types I do not collect?
Yes. Use “Hide Types” in the Fish Index to remove selected types from your list. Hidden types do not count toward the collection statistics shown for your account.
What do egg count and hatched count mean?
Egg count is the total number of eggs recorded for that variation, while hatched count is the number recorded as hatched. Counts may include fish or eggs that no longer exist, and fish delivered through bags can make the hatched total higher than the egg total.
How does the tracker leaderboard work?
The leaderboard compares registered collectors by fish collected, variety, and completion percentage. A registered user needs at least one collected fish to appear.
How does the Monday Trade Event work?
Trading is fish-for-fish only—no Lindens. Bring up to five XS fish, take your turn, and trade with other participating panels.
When are the weekly auctions?
Harmony’s Drop Auctions are held Wednesday and Friday from 5–7 PM SLT. Special auction details are announced in-world.
Is Harmony Fishing family-friendly?
Yes. Harmony is welcoming and PG-friendly. Be kind and respectful, and keep gestures, poses, and behavior appropriate for the community.
Where can I find official XS Fish information?
Use the official Rainbow Reef guide, the official fish database, and Xundra’s Fishing website. Harmony’s tracker organizes this information into a collection-friendly Fish Index.
